My Story.
Hi, my name is Jacqui and I am so glad you’re here…
I didn’t want to be a foster carer. Full stop.
I would get too attached, I couldn’t do it.
Fast forward 6 years later and here I am, with my own 2 children and husband in tow, fostering. After a year of assessment and sitting panel, we welcomed our first foster child 5 years ago and haven’t regretted getting too attached since.
2023 saw me become a first time author and illustrator with a book that makes my heart smile. A book about the real life emotions and feelings at play for these little ones as they transition from foster care into adoption. Every story matters, especially the story of a child in care. This book will make you laugh and it will make you cry and it will leave the child with a sense of self worth, empowerment and an understanding of how incredibly loved they are.
A bit more about me…
Armed with a dry sense of humour (and wine, preferably) fostering helps me to appreciate joy in the simple things that I might miss otherwise.
My family is my world.
I really enjoy decorating and Pinterest is my best friend: and my husbands worst enemy.
I love baking. But I don’t especially love cooking-They’re different.
I like to think I enjoy gardening but realise every spring that this no more than just a pipe dream, I think I’ve killed more plants than I’ve successfully grown.
I also love, a bit too much, seeing birds of prey when we are travelling down the motorway… Despite being mocked by the entire family, I’m the proud owner of a bird spotting book, and let’s just say, they were all wanting to catch a glimpse of the red kite I once saw (bird, not toy!)…. Just need a pair of binoculars.
Lover of art.
Drinker of tea.
Maker of cocktails: master of none.
